THE
RULES
1. Competitors
compete in teams of two and pairs must maintain contact with each other
throughout the competition. Pairs must reach each checkpoint together
and cross the finish line together. If one member of the team cannot continue
the team is disqualified. Teams will be supplied with race numbers which
must be worn at all times.
2. Competitors must be able to swim.
3. Each team is issued with a passport which will be stamped at
each checkpoint. There will be cutoff times to ensure that teams can complete
the course in a reasonable amount of time. If a team misses a cutoff time
for a specific checkpoint, they may be permitted to continue on a shortened
course. Each team must carry their passport throughout the competition.
4. The team passport must be submitted to the race organizers after
crossing the finish line. Without a passport the team will be disqualified.
5. Teams must respect the countryside at all times. No littering
or destruction of flora or fauna is permitted.
6. Out of Bounds areas marked on the competition map or course must
be respected. If challenged, polite and courteous behavior must be maintained.
7. All teams must carry and know how to use, all the equipment defined
on the Gear Check List. This is the absolute minimum for safety and completing
the course (e.g.. simple bicycle repairs, using a compass).
8. From the start to the finish of the race, a team may not receive
any outside assistance (including food and drink), except in the case
of disqualification or seeking help for an injured party.
9. Any complaint or query must be lodged with any member of the
organizing committee within 30 minutes of reaching a checkpoint or finish
line. Such complaints or queries are arbitrated by the organizers present
and the decision of the Race Directors is final.
10. Smoking is not permitted during the event. The same policy applies
to alcohol and drug abuse. Any participant, support member or marshal
suspected of being under the influence of same may be disqualified and/or
asked to leave the area immediately.
11. If a participant is under age 18, a Parent or Guardian must
sign the race waiver.
12. Two-person
teams – Only one substitute can be made for the series. One
person must be consistent for all three races.
13. Teams are to wait out their time penalty at the checkpoint.
14. ECO Adventures reserves the right to refuse entry to any team
and to ask any team to refrain from wearing any sponsor identification
or using a team name which ECO Adventures considers to be in conflict
or detrimental to the event and its sponsors. Sponsored teams need to
identify their sponsors to ECO Adventures and get permission to participate
prior to race day.
Failure to observe the above rules may invoke automatic disqualification.
